Cadillac CTS-V “Competition” commercial. A must see!!

Check out this brand new competition commercial of the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. I think you will be impressed! We are excited at Bill DeLord Autocenter about this new Cadillac. Like you couldn’t already tell….

Thanks to AutoBlog for sharing!

Recently, we showed you a behind-the-scenes look at Cadillac‘s newest commercial featuring the CTS-V sedan out on Germany’s hallowed-be-thy-name Nürburgring. Now, after all of the editing and post-production work has been completed, we’re left with a brand new television ad spot simply dubbed “The Competition,” showing viewers that one of the world’s fastest sport sedans will strive to be better and better. How can you improve on 0-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and a ‘Ring run in just 7:59.32? We’re eager to find out.

Aside from the gloriousness of watching a CTS-V do what it does best out on one of the world’s greatest road courses, we like this video because it makes mention of the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG – two vehicles that inspired Cadillac to raise the bar for its own sport sedan. Give credit where credit is due, after all. Still, we like stiff competition, and you can watch Cadillac’s latest ad spot now.

Taking Good Care Of Your Pet This Labor Day Weekend!

Just like any other day it’s important to remember that you shouldn’t leave your pet in a hot car. You wouldn’t leave your child in the car would you? Labor Day happens to be one of the biggest travel holidays of the year. School has just started or is about to start back up for a lot of families, and this holiday is the last blast of the summer. A friend of mine sent me this story from PetTravel.com and I wanted to share with you some of the tips and hints they had on keeping your pet safe and cool this Labor Day weekend. When you are traveling this weekend in your new or used Cadillac remember these tips for you and your pets. In fact, you should remember these tips for everyday activities as well.

Labor Day is almost here and what better way to spend your last summer party than with your pooch? Good food, friends and fun are all essential for Labor Day celebrations, but is your dog prepared for the festivities? Here is a list of dangers for your dog to avoid this Labor Day to ensure he/she stays healthy and happy all weekend long.

Heat stroke – Hydration is crucial for dogs. Did you know a dog can overheat in just a matter of minutes? If your dog has a heavy coat they are more susceptible to heat stroke. Consistently monitor body temperature and be able to notice anything unordinary. Symptoms of heat stroke are panting heavily, a rapid pulse, glazed eyes, a deep red or purple tongue, vomiting, sticky, thick saliva, lethargy, or any unsteadiness or staggering. Heat exhaustion, stress, or stroke is extremely serious and can be fatal. Remember; NEVER leave your pet alone in the car even for a few minutes. This is the most common cause of heat stroke.

Paw burns – Have you ever walked on a scorching patio or beach without sandals? Imagine how your pooch feels this Labor Day when your porch is so hot you could cook an egg on it. Make sure there is a shady place near the party for your dog to hang out. Also, be careful while grilling. A hot grill plus a curious dog can lead to disaster. We recommend putting your pooch inside when the grill is on but if you insist, watch them closely. If you see him get burned or signs that he did (limping, licking his paws, cracked or blistering skin or pads), apply a cold, wet compress, clean the area with pet-safe ointment or aloe vera, and wrap with gauze.

Dogs get sunburned too! – Contrary to popular belief, your dog can get sunburned and needs protection. Hairless, light skinned, light colored, shaved, or pink-nosed pups are especially in danger of being burned. We recommend doing one of two things for pet sun protection. Pick up a non-toxic, fragrance free doggie sunscreen like Vet’s Best Sun Relief spray or another option is baby sunscreen. A lotion works best with heavy coated dogs since you can rub it through the coat to the skin. Essential areas are the ears, bridge of the nose, nose, and the underside of his body.

Swimming time – If your dog loves to swim, this section is for you. Most of us love to enjoy the water during Labor Day weekend, and your pooch probably does too. If they aren’t a good swimmer, a doggie life preserver would be a good idea. Never leave a dog unattended when swimming. Also, don’t let them drink pool or ocean water. Pool water contains chlorine and the ocean contains salt, both of which can be harmful and dehydrate your pet. Make sure you has fresh water available at all times.

Human foods are not for pets – Who doesn’t like barbequed food? But it’s not for dogs, and you must resist the urge to give them a treat from the grill. If you’re having a big Labor Day party, you might want to consider putting up a sign for your guests that says please do not feed the pets. Some foods are toxic to dogs like onions, grapes, mushrooms, avocados, lunch meat, and more. Plus, dogs have very sensitive tummies. Even the smallest amount of food can upset their stomach and cause diarrhea or vomiting.

Traveling by car – Many of us travel to friends or family by car during Labor Day weekend. If you plan to bring your pooch in the car you might want to consider a few things. If your dog has never traveled by car before, get them accustomed prior to travel. Making them feel comfortable will significantly reduce car sickness. Also, a pet restraint is always recommended. This will help keep the pet from being a distraction to the driver as well as keep them safe.

The long Labor Day weekend is meant to be enjoyed by both humans and pets. Be prepared, keep your pet safe, and don’t let one of these dangers for your pet put a damper on your festivities.

Have a very happy and safe Labor Day weekend!

2011 Buick Regal Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Award!!

The all new 2011 Buick Regal has been presented with a very huge award. It has been named the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety pick! That’s a very huge deal in the automotive world. I was very excited to hear the news. Have you had the opportunity to see the all new Buick Regal yet? If not, it may be time for you to take a test drive! Your local Dayton Buick dealership is ready to give you a test drive today so you can see why this new Buick is more than safe and reliable. Check out this story from Edmunds.com on the award the 2011 Buick Regal recently received.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given the 2011 Buick Regal its Top Safety Pick designation after it achieved good ratings for front, side, rollover and rear-impact protection. In addition to good crash-test ratings, IIHS Top Safety Picks must have electronic stability control, an important crash-avoidance feature. This is standard on the Regal, the institute said.

The Regal is the seventh GM vehicle to earn the award since the institute implemented a new roof-strength requirement for protection in rollover crashes. In this test, a metal plate is pushed against one corner of a vehicle’s roof at a constant speed. The maximum force sustained by the roof before 5 inches of crush is compared to the vehicle’s weight to find the strength-to-weight ratio. The roof of the Regal withstood a force equal to nearly five times the car’s weight. For comparison, the current federal standard is 1.5 times the vehicle’s weight.

Well, what do you think about this new Buick Regal? Come stop by Bill DeLord Buick today and take a good look at the all new 2011 Buick Regal!

Is Your Pooch A Driving Distraction?

There are so many different things that can distract you while you are driving. Everything from phones, CD’s, iPods, children and yes even your dog. When you are driving in your car you should be paying the most attention to your driving. This is an issue that will continue to be a main subject on the news for years to come. I heard a PSA the other day on the radio stating that in the moments before a crash people are paying more attention to their devices than they are to their driving. This concerns me and when I came across this story from Consumer Reports I felt like I needed to remind you that there are more things distracting you while driving other than your cell phone.

The issue of distracted driving continues to be in the headlines with more news about accidents from this dangerous behavior and more states banning texting while driving. Still, technology isn’t the only form of distraction. We recently covered distraction with kids in the car and now a new study shows how pets can contribute to the problem, as well.

The study by AAA, based on 1,000 dog owners who have driven with their pet in their car during the past year, found that 31 percent of survey respondents admit to being distracted by their dog. Plus, 59 percent have engaged in various distracting behaviors, with more than half the respondents said they petted their dog; 21 percent allowed their dog to sit on their lap in the driver’s seat; and others have given their dog food and water or played with them–all while driving.

Even if done for just a short time, these behaviors can increase the risk of a crash and potential injury. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found that taking your eyes off the road for just two seconds doubles your crash risk.

Eighty-percent of respondents drive with their pets on a variety of occasions, but only 17 percent use a pet restraint. An unrestrained pet can be a dangerous projectile in a crash, risking injury to itself and all other passengers in the vehicle.

“An unrestrained 10-pound dog in a crash at 50 mph will exert roughly 500 pounds of pressure, while an unrestrained 80-pound dog in a crash at only 30 mph will exert 2,400 pounds of pressure,” says Beth Mosher, AAA Director of Public Affairs.

Manufacturers such as Honda, Subaru, and Volvo offer special equipment packages on some models to help keep your pet safety contained. Major pet stores and online retailers also sell restraint harnesses and other devices to help keep the family safe on the road.

All I ask is that you are as safe as you can be while you are driving. Think about these things before you get in the car and put yourself at risk.

Take A Drive In The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe!

I would like to take this opportunity to show you a video shot from the inside of the CTS-V Coupe taken around the very technical track at Monticello Motor Club. This racetrack is normally only open to members of it’s exclusive driver’s club but Cadillac let MotorAuthority take the CTS-V for a little drive. Cadillac even went as far as to install video recorders in every car so that you could hear the sound of the CTS-V’s 556-horsepower supercharged V-8, and get a good look through the eyes of the windshield. I think you will enjoy this video!

When you want to see this amazing car yourself make sure you stop by your local Dayton Cadillac Dealership!

Have You Survived A Sinkhole?

Can you see that poor 2007 Cadillac Escalade sitting at the bottom of that sinkhole? Have you ever seen a sinkhole that big? This is one odd story but it has a very happy ending so I just had to share it with my readers. The main thing is the driver of this car is ok, but I can’t say the same for his car.

Lance Treankler, who lost his 2007 Cadillac Escalade to a sinkhole, is again behind the wheel of a 2007 Escalade thanks to Caddy’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. Treankler’s original Escalade was left inoperable last month after plunging 20 feet into a sinkhole in downtown Milwaukee. Treankler was able to climb out of the sinkhole with the help of an onlooker.  Fortunately, the insurance policy on the Escalade covered the accident.

Treankler (above, right) replaced his lost machine with a nearly indentical CPO ’07 Escalade, saying “…living in Wisconsin, I like the way it drives. It’s a beast in the winter.” The 25-year-old Milwaukee resident says he’s had some back pain from the fall but escaped serious harm.  While Treankler escaped from the sinkhole, his original Escalade kept running for 28 hours before being hauled out with a crane. “It was a pretty surreal moment,” Treankler said. “Everything happened so quickly. I’m just happy to be out and alive.” – Edmunds Daily

Can you believe that? I’ve never seen such a thing. Have you?

Read The 2010 Cadillac SRX AWD Premium Review & Test Drive!

GM and Bill DeLord Cadillac are both very very proud with the Cadillac SRX. It is one of the most popular Cadillac’s that we have on our lot. So when I came across this review and test drive from Automotive Addicts I was happy to see that they loved it just as much as we do. There is not much that I could say about the SRX that Malcolm didn’t cover in his review. So, I will simply say enjoy and let me know what you think about the SRX. If you haven’t had the opportunity to test drive the new SRX stop by your Cincinnati Cadillac dealer today!

When it comes to building a decent luxury crossover vehicle, the new 2010 Cadillac SRX pushes General Motors further in the right direction. First released into the market in 2004 as a car-based wagon, the SRX struggled to find its place to compete with the competition. For 2010 the SRX is taking aim directly at the Lexus RX, BMW X3/X5 and Benz GLK.

Cadillac is well known for building one of the SUV kings of the road, the Cadillac Escalade, as well as several other great luxury ‘cars’. For the first time Cadillac has a vehicle that can begin a good fight against what has been one of Lexus’s prized possessions since 1998.  Since then, the Lexus RX has helped define the crossover utility vehicle market. After driving a new 2010 Cadillac SRX fully loaded with all of the goodies that Caddy has to offer, you would think Cadillac has been building a crossover for just as long as Lexus. Not only does the new 2010 SRX fill the empty cup that the previous generation SRX couldn’t, but it overfills it in some ways.

The 2010 SRX screams quality from just about every angle from its quiet airtight cabin to the soft materials used throughout the interior. Our SRX all-wheel-drive premium test vehicle was equipped with just about every option available, which is the flavor that we prefer in this segment. Inside you will find a bright easy-to-read instrument cluster with a center color LCD information display specific to the SRX. You will notice that several other aspects of the dashboard are carried over from the Cadillac CTS such as the popup touch-screen LCD and controls below it. The layout works well in the SRX just like it does on the CTS. In the past General Motors was criticized for cookie cutter interiors but now days they are very tasteful and sparing about it by only reusing the good stuff.

Styling of the 2010 SRX is much different from its predecessor leaving many wondering if it is even related to the older model. Comparing the two makes the outgoing style look very dated, while the 2010 SRX looks like it grew up overnight and now has some facial hair to show off its sophistication. Speaking of sophistication, the 2010 SRX has enough gadgetry to send a rocket to the moon and back. The 2.8-liter twin-scroll turbo charged engine provides just enough power to comfortably move all 4,387 pounds. In our Premium level test vehicle the power was directed through a 6-speed automatic transmission to all 4 20-inch wheels. The bigger 20-inch wheels and 235/55/R20 Michelin Latitude tires actually provide a very good ride when combined with the optional ZF Sachs Continuous Damping Control suspension system. The SRX has a nice ‘float factor’ on the highway. Just the way a Cadillac should without any of the old-fashioned rebound drama that you may have got from a classic 6,000+ pound Detroit-steel tank.

Well, what do you think so far? I think you need to come see this SRX with your own eyes!

Buckle Your Kids Up! New Laws Are Actually Working.

It’s no surprise that buckling up is important. In years past many states have implemented seat belt laws that have actually proven a reduction in injuries. In Ohio a child 3 years and younger or less than 40 pounds must be in a child restraint; ages 4 through 7 years who weigh 40 pounds or more and who are shorter than 57 inches must be in booster seat. For each offense you are a required to pay a $75 ticket. It really bothers me when I am traveling down the road and I come across a young child sitting in mom or dads lap in the front seat of the car completely unrestrained. I urge you to buckle your children up and follow the laws. It could save your child’s life.

Check out this article from Consumer Reports.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death in young children, but many of these fatalities can be prevented. Research has shown that the use of child safety seats can help reduce injuries and deaths in a crash, and new findings support the use of mandated boosters.

A new study by the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics is the first to look at injury rates before and after a state law on booster seats went into effect. The study looked at the New York State booster seat law that was implemented in March 2005, and it found that injuries in children ages 4 to 6 years old dropped 18 percent. This improvement is largely attributed to the increase in use of boosters after the child restraint law was upgraded, from 29 percent to 50 percent for those children that were involved in accidents.

Additional research also supports the benefits of boosters. A study by the Journal of Pediatrics from 2009 found that children aged 4 through 8 years old who used booster seats were 45 percent less likely to sustain injuries than children who were just using the vehicle’s seat belt.

However, not all states have the same child seat laws and some are stricter than others. All states require a child restraint for children through age 3 with the majority of states requiring a restraint for children up until at least 7 years old. (See the child restraint laws in your state). Whether or not your state has a law, Consumer Report’s recommendation, as well as recommendations from other safety organizations and the government, is to keep children in an appropriate child restraint until they are able to fit the vehicles belts both comfortably and safely, usually when they are around 4ft. 9 inches tall. Also, all children under age 13 should ride in the rear seat.

But, don’t be in a rush to move your child up to the next level of seat. A move up (from rear-facing to forward-facing; a harness to seat-belt booster) generally means a step back in the overall level of safety for your child. Keep your kids in a forward facing harnessed seat as long as the weight limits of that seat allows before moving them to a booster.

It’s also important to make sure all child restraints are properly installed. To ensure proper installation and fit to your child have your car seat inspected by certified technicians. To find an inspection station near you go to:http:// www.seatcheck.org or http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cps/cpsfitting/index.cfm. The National Seat Check day is Saturday, September 25th where inspection events will be set up around the country. This is a good opportunity to have your seat checked and make sure it is properly installed. Often local fire departments also have trained personnel that can assist.

Cadillac SRX scores Top Safety Pick from IIHS!

I think everyone knows how much I love the Cadillac SRX. That’s why I was so happy when it received the Top Safety Pick from IIHS! The Cadillac SRX is not only elegant and stylish, but it’s also safe and reliable. This award just proves it even more.

Here’s what AutoBlog had to say about the award:

When it comes to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s crash rating system, earning a score of “Good” is the best any automaker can hope for. And if a vehicle receives a score of “Good” for front, side, rear and and rollover crash protection and the vehicle has standard electronic stability control that car, truck or SUV becomes an IIHS Top Safety Pick. The 2010 Cadillac SRX became the 15th midsize SUV to be awarded with the desirable designation after the hot-selling crossover passed the rollover crash protection test with flying colors. The SRX had already received a “Good” score for its performance in the other crash tests.

The current government standard for roof safety is that it needs to be able to support 1.5 times the overall vehicle weight. The roof of the SRX proved to be able to hold 4.14 times its weight, nearly tripling the standards required by the feds. The IIHS tests roof strength by pushing a metal plate against one corner of the roof at a constant rate of speed. The maximum force sustained by the roof before the roof collapses by five inches is compared to the vehicle weight to determine the strength-to-weight ratio.

Have you test driven the SRX yet? When you are ready come see your Dayton Cadillac dealer. You will not be disappointed.
